Otherwise, you’ll end up like this guy. In addition to a heafty fine and community service, he got a year driving ban and must take an extended driving test when he re-applies.

Unless you’re Chris Harris, and on some out-of-the-way Welsh B-road. Then it’s fine.

It almost always seems to be Britain when people get caught for such videos. How do the police find these people and the videos? Do they just have that much free time on their hands?

Two things Britain has more than most per head are racetracks and surveillance cameras.

Yeah, if you get permission and close the road it’s probably ok.

People report them. I’ve seen the same thing when people post about drunk driving on Facebook, someone reports them and cops show up.

I’m also willing to bet he arranges for the road to be closed while filming.

It’s hard to say, obviously, but I’m reasonably sure they didn’t close the road. You generally need more clout than a YouTube channel for that. He isn’t all-out drifting, like the guy in that video, and he doesn’t break the speed limit - 60 MPH - so far as I can tell, so...

Yeah, but this video was posted in August and he’s only getting caught now. That makes me think that they saw the video then started investigating as opposed to the other way around. I
really
wish that we had as many tracks as they do.

Wow, what a bunch of nosy busybodies. Soooo glad we kicked their asses out in the 1700s.

Maybe. I think you generally need quite a bit of money/clout with the local council to get away with that, though. I wouldn’t be surprised if his relatively sedate/controlled - compared to the dude in the video - approach let him get away with it. He certainly doesn’t break the speed limit.

Though, in this particular case, the idiot actually posted the video himself.

Most likely someone was OUTRAGED recently and reported it to the police.

Why can’t this happen in America? I guess 80% of the people who drive on Tail of the Dragon would lose their license. Actually, that might be a good thing.
